Ex-president: “Facebook has lost billions of dollars in value since your favorite president, who is me, was banned.”
After regaining access to his Twitter account, Facebook and the popular photo app Instagram have restored the accounts of former US President Donald Trump, according to the News Hoth correspondent.
For his part, Trump commented Wednesday on Meta’s announcement to lift his two-year ban, saying: “Preventing an American president from using Facebook should never happen again.”
“Facebook, which has lost billions of dollars in value since it banned its favorite president, which is me, just announced that it will reactivate my account,” he said on his website, “Truth Social.”
He also added that “something like this should never happen to a president during his term, or to any other person who does not deserve punishment.”
Twitter’s new owner and CEO, Elon Musk, announced in a tweet last November that he would restore former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.
Solicitation is formal
Trump’s campaign had earlier submitted a formal petition to the parent company of Facebook, to unblock his account there, after regaining access to his Twitter account.
The Trump campaign has not threatened a lawsuit. Instead, she spoke of the importance of free speech and petitioned Meta, Inc., for a “meeting to discuss President Trump’s immediate reinstatement of the platform.”
While the Financial Times reported early this month, Meta is preparing to make a decisive decision regarding former US President Donald Trump’s return to Facebook.
