After posting a poker game on his online channel, Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar may face a sanction from the French authorities for preventing the publication and promotion of online poker matches.
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is facing investigations from French authorities for engaging in illegal advertising. The story dates back to two weeks ago when Neymar live-posted the poker tournament on his Twitch channel.
In the 60th minute, Neymar lost a million euros, according to what the site “Sportbild” wrote, after which Neymar seemed to cry and express his indignation. For reference, Neymar is paid 60 million euros per year at Paris Saint-Germain.
But the problem does not stop there, Neymar is in a commercial partnership with “Blaze“, an online casino that has published a poker tournament on its channel, which contradicts French laws that prohibit online casinos and also prevent the promotion of online poker tournaments.
According to RMC Sport, the French National Games Authority is looking into the incident to confirm whether Neymar’s live broadcast was from France or not. In broadcasting, Neymar does not speak French and does not address the French audience directly. If it is proven that this transfer has reached French viewers, Neymar may be punished, according to the German website “Sportbild”.
When Afterfoot’s Daniel Riolo was told Neymar would be fined, he laughed and said the fine he would pay would still be less than what his partner would pay. It is not known how much Neymar gets from the deal with the poker company Blaze, with which he has a four-year collaboration, according to the website “Sportbild”.
Neymar is currently out of the limelight, suffering from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action since the end of February and made him miss the last 16 of the Champions League, which brought his team together with Bayern Munich. Neymar is due to return to action in the summer.
