A News Agency correspondent reported, on Saturday, that an Israeli restaurant was shot at near the city of Jericho.
And the Israeli Channel Seven reported that “a Palestinian opened fire near the Almog junction, south of Jericho, but his weapon malfunctioned and he withdrew from the place.”
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed that shots had been fired near a restaurant at the Almog junction, saying: “A Palestinian came to the restaurant, fired a shot and fled, and the army and police forces combed the area and there were no wounded. .”
The Israeli police raised the alert level to the maximum in their ranks.
Earlier today, Saturday, Palestinian leaders warned the Israeli government not to continue with its current approach, which will lead to “further deterioration and threaten security and stability throughout the region.”
And the Palestinian News Agency claimed that the leaders met today, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, and held the Israeli government responsible for the “dangerous escalation” to which the situation has reached.
The Palestinian leaders called on the international community and the US administration to force the Israeli government to stop its “unilateral actions”, asking “to reconsider the political path that leads to ending the Israeli occupation.”
The Palestinian leadership affirmed the continuation of implementing the decisions it took at its meeting last Thursday, as it announced the cessation of security coordination with the Israeli government in response to what it described as a “massacre” committed by Israeli forces in the Jenin camp in the West Bank, which killed 10 people in addition to dozens of injured.
The statement stressed the continued communication of the Palestinian leadership with international and Arab parties in order to provide international support and protection for the Palestinian people, stressing also the importance of responding to the call of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “for a comprehensive national dialogue in order to fortify the home front and strengthen the political position.”
This comes as two Israelis were wounded this morning in a shooting in East Jerusalem carried out by a 13-year-old Palestinian boy who was neutralized, according to the Israeli media, the day after an attack on a synagogue that left 7 dead and the perpetrator killed, in response to an Israeli incursion, Thursday, into the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, killing 10 Palestinians.
