Stellantis, the maker of Jeep, Fiat and Peugeot autos, has suspended exports of automobiles from Russia and imports of autos into the nation, the corporate stated Thursday.
The automaker operates a small plant in partnership with Mitsubishi in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow. The plant employs about 2,700 folks and produces small supply vans that Stellantis has been exporting to different European international locations.
Every week in the past, the automaker’s chief govt, Carlos Tavares, hinted that the plant may need to halt manufacturing. “The operations will stop because there’s simply no more parts,” he stated in a videoconference.
Stellantis, with headquarters in Amsterdam, was fashioned by a merger of Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot. It makes autos below 14 model names, together with Ram, Chrysler, Maserati, Opel and Citroën.
