The head of UNICEF claims that the whole population of northern Gaza is "at imminent risk" of dying.
The executive director of UNICEF issued a warning, saying that everyone who is still in northern Gaza, particularly children, is "at imminent risk of dying" from food, sickness, and continuous bombardment.
Catherine Russell said in a statement on Saturday that there were multiple fatal attacks in the north during the weekend. According to her, strikes on two residential structures in Jabalya, where hundreds of people sought cover, killed at least 50 children on Friday and Saturday. A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Israel Defense Forces.
The dire situation in the northern part of Gaza has gotten worse as a result of the Israeli operation, which has been going on for about a month and is targeting Jabalya, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun. In an apparent attempt to prevent Hamas terrorists from regrouping, Israel resumed its military campaign there in early October, bombing targets and encircling areas.
An attack on a medical facility in Gaza City, where a polio vaccination campaign was underway, was reported by the World Health Organization on Saturday. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization, reported that the incident occurred during a humanitarian pause that Israel had agreed to and that at least six people, including four children, were hurt.
According to the IDF, "an initial review determined that the IDF did not strike in the area at the specified time," despite being "aware of claims" that civilians were hurt at the clinic.
