Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and San Francisco Giants round out the top five.
The New York Yankees are Major League Baseball’s most valuable franchise for the 2023 season, according to information released by the financial site, Forbes.
The Yankees took the top spot on the list with a valuation of $7.100 billion, up 18% from 2022.
The Los Angeles Dodgers ($4.800 billion), Boston Red Sox ($4.500 billion), Chicago Cubs ($4.100 billion), and San Francisco Giants ($3.700 billion) round out the top five.
The New York Mets are in sixth place, worth an estimated $2.900 billion. This represents a 9% increase from 2022. However, the Mets suffered the league’s biggest operating loss last year, with 138.5 million greens.
The average value of MLB teams is up 12% from last year, according to Forbes’ Mike Ozanian and Justin Teitelbaum.
The Seattle Mariners, who rank 13th with $2.200 billion, were the franchise with the biggest jump in the value of all, up 29% from 2022.
Yankees dominate finance, but not diamond
The Yankees are the most valuable team in MLB in terms of money, but on the diamond, the “Bronx Bombers” have left much to be desired despite all the money coming in and out of the club.
New York has a 14-year drought without winning a World Series, the last time the “Manhattan Mules” were champions in the Major Leagues was in 2009 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Since then, the Yankees haven’t even made it to the “Fall Classic.”
